Well we had a BIG doeling born this morning. I am guessing my yearling Nigerian buck was not big enough to finish the job. We had them together for a cycle and he was all over her so we thought it the deed was done. We put all the goats back togther but it appears we have a not-so-mini-Nubian and my Nubian buck was not as clued out as I thought. Just checked mom and she's layed back down...we'll see she still seems huge but really relaxed. Oh and she's black and white with blue eyes! Get pics as soon as we know she's done.

oh, forgot to mention that she's dry and drinking and walking around...doesn't even have to stand to nurse because she's so tall compared to mom short legs.

I guess she is a tri-colour...upon closer look she has brown eyebrow markings and brown on her socks. Mom still looks huge but doesn't seem to be labouring. It seems she is done but I swear I saw squirming on her right side. She has had quads previously and last one was a single....I just want to make sure there is not one stuck in the kid was so big. Should I go in to check...I tend to be hands off and not disturb them but want to make sure she is safe. She's adorable!

Has she passed the afterbirth? Is she up, eating and otherwise acting normal? If the answer to either of these is yes, don't go in.

I only go in if the does is still acting off, still going up and down, still pushing or not looking well. If she is being a good attentive momma and seems fine, I don't.

thanks everyone, we are pretty thrilled we got a girl I was going to bottle feed but with just a singleton and since mom doesn't have a goat buddy we are just going to let them stay together. I cannot bare to take her little one away when she is being such a good mom. Mom seems super relaxed and attentive so I think I will just let things be and keep checking on her although I am sure things are fine....that was one BIG baby, its half the size of her!

We are going to name her Holly as we have a plant theme name for our goats and its so close to Christmas.

Awwwww.....so CUTE!!!!! So is the baby goat!!!!! We have a sheep named Holly, only because her markings are like a Holstein....LOLOLOL
