Mmmm. I have never had goats milk butter!

How sad that there are so many things one still has not experienced that should be common experiences from childhood if things were natural and that you will NEVER see this in the store. I have made my own cow milk butter from raw cow milk but am going to try this out too with goats milk as soon as I get the chance. Thank you for posting!

How do you get cream without a seperator? One of the books I read said to put in a high Surface area pan overnight. Does that work or is there a better way (other than the seperator)

we just put the milk in wide-mouth 1/2 gal canning jars and left it untouched (don't move it) in a very cold fridge for 3-5 days. cream will separate, then we dipped it out with a ladle. it doesn't separate as completely or as quickly as cows milk, but it will separate into a definite cream over milk structure.
make sure you sterilize the containers and use proper (clean) milking technique, it's going to sit for several days so you want to make sure it doesn't start to spoil.
