my sister's male goats have swollen lips. she thinks it is because "spring is in the air" because the same thing happened spring time last year. I am not so sure. Her goats are happy, eating and frolickling. Should she be worried?

Swollen lips is a new one for me. And is isn't rut season right now. Can you post a picture? You have to have ten posts first. If they are pulling their lips up, curling them, that is normal if they are trying to woo a doe.

I can not post a picture yet. She has 4 males and they all seem to think it is time for the rut. They are all very perky. I just could not find anything that referenced swollen lips for anything other than some sort of medical condition. But again they are as happy as could be so maybe nature's clock is off with them.

Well, bucks will do the deed whenever the opportunity presents itself  It is just that in the fall, when daylight starts to wain, that it kicks their sex drive into full throttle. If it is just that their lips are evenly swollen, not lumpy or blistered, and it does not extend into their jaw, I don't know that I would worry about it. Once you get to 10, if you can post a few pics, it might be clearer if something is out of the ordinary.

Maybe it is something they find to eat that is just around in the springtime.
