Since I cannot find Purina Show or Professional in my immediate area I have after much research here on BYH to feed my meat rabbits Manna Pro feeds. I bought a bag of the GRO for my milking doe and her litter. The bag says to feed to young rabbits and milking does. All other classes of rabbits should be fed MannaSHO. Do you all keep your does on the GRO regardless if they are dry or lactating or do you switch them between the two? It seems like a pain to be switching them between the two feeds between litters. Thanks in advance for the help.

I use purina pro 18%, but some people mix 18% & 16% to make a 17% feed to use for everyone at all times.

The manna gro is 18%, sho is 16%.

Thanks for the response. I just didn't want to feed the bucks and dry does the 18% and when they didn't need it. I think I will feed both and see how it works for me.

The % you use depends on the breed. Smaller breeds do not require the 18%. HL in particular have shown to have severe problems with it. They do better on a lower %. On the flip side, the Angoras require the higher % for production of that awsome wool. So ... the first question is what breed are you working with? We have feed MP feeds for years. We use all of them, depending on the breed of animal.

Check calcium %, adult does not in milk and bucks should be getting lower amounts, which is why I don't feed alfalfa past 1 year.

A lot of breeders will only feed GRO 18% or Purina Pro 18% to does that have nest boxes because the 18% feed usually costs more.

It may be a pain to juggle, but it can make a big difference in costs for a meat grower.

When we had a mixed group of show breeds from Angoras, Americans, French Lops, Dutch, Standard Chinchillas, Polish, Netherland Dwarfs, and Holland Lops, I would mix 18% and 16% feeds to make an average 17% feed that seemed to work well for all the breeds.

Have a good day!

I have NZW and Californians for meat production. They are not show rabbits, just for my home meat production and I sell a few fryers to the locals. Thanks for the responses everyone. My TSC had Purina show instock today so I asked if they could get Purina Pro in. If not I will stick with the Manna Feeds.

We use manna sho n gro. same product.
If we are out I get 17% from our feed mill.
It's also not as expensive as purina.
