I am still alive. Just tired dealing with this heat. I've put up another 100ft of fencing and cattle panel gates. I also cleared lane for next 330ft of cross fencing. No way to put in posts right now with ground so hard.
Kids had their meet the teacher on Friday. Then we went to services and birthday dinner for Cassandra. Saturday we went to kids museum. She turned 7 today.
I've been encouraging @Baymule to milk but, it's a no go. My goats milk is great. And plentiful. Maybe you'll try one of yours and report back. I've never had sheep milk.
@Baymule with the udder development you have on some of your sheep, you would get enough to make it worth your while to milk them....
And just for the record... sheep have AN UDDER... not "udders"... They have 2 teats... or sides... in cattle they have an udder, with 4 quarters... since sheep only have 2 and not 4 teats... it is halves or sides... and some people do just say 2 quarters if they are accustomed to dealing with dairy animals, with 4 quarters... makes it easier... and anyone who has much dairy experience knows that "2 quarters" on a sheep or goat just means 2 teats/sides... not 2 of 4 quarters that make up a whole...
EXCEPT -- some Boer do have 4 quarters. It was not unusual when they were first imported about 30 yr ago. Later imports and breeding among has brought an udder with halves more dominant. You still find a doe with 4 working quarters once in a while.
I can tell you that a foursome is heavenly when they have trip kids!
