Ugh, more issues this time with Bruno. I realized he had 2 funny looking spots that were bumpy. Queue rememberance of post about hot spots. $115 later I had a pair of clippers and hot topical spray. I already had 0.12% chlorhexidine gluconate wash on hand.

I clipped the fur and it looks so bad on left side. The right isn't as bad. Going to treat morning and night and see if OTC recommendations work. If not clearing up by Thursday we will vet him.

Our dogs aren't consistent and will sometimes take meds easily and other times not so much. Peanut butter works for one of our dogs and a little bacon grease works for another. The other two take meds along with their feed but we again add some bacon grease to keep them from picking them out.

I use peanut butter - chunky disguises the pills texture in the stuff - dip out a tsp or tbsp of peanut butter, shove pills into it. Hide it behind back as I sweet talk dog then open mouth and scrape it off behind teeth, hold mouth shut until peanut butter glues to inside of mouth. They can't spit out pill encased in peanut butter glue. LOL.

Was giving Rika 6 pills every morning in peanut butter for horrible pain spasms due to compressed discs in back and shoulder. She is fine now. Have another pain med prescription if pain starts again.

Hunks of cheese with pill smooshed inside works for my dogs. The two younger ones inhale it so fast, I don’t think they even get to enjoy their prize. The toothless old dog works away at hers, but still swallows the pill.

Bruno's hot spots are doing good with twice daily rinse and hot spot wound spray.

I don’t have any patience with trying to bribe dogs to take pills. All my dogs, even Oskar, are trained to let me open their mouth and drop the pills in.

We had a HUGE black dog and Parker. He got very excited over food. He would just about take our fingers off, so we threw treats at him. His big mouth and teeth snapped shut like an alligator, so the command for a treat became alligator in an excited voice.

Parker got sick and I took him to the vet. Vet gave me pills and started giving me instructions on how to get him to swallow them. I said, Nah……Watch this. Parker! ALLIGATOR!! I tossed pill in the air, big mouth opened, gulped pill, snapped shut.
Vet was impressed. LOL

Pill training is going well. Head tipped back treat dropped down the hatch and rub on neck. He stays in same position for the non-pill filled extras.
