It's been a year for us too... losing a couple of steers for no reason... that's 1500-1700 each.... and selling open cows...... and we usually only get 1 baby per year and can't even imagine multiple births (a few twins out of 100 cows maybe) and no way to get 3 calf crops in 2-2 1/2 years because of the 9 months...
We have had more losses in the last year than normal... so I totally get your upset and pain... both emotionally and financially.
I hurt so much right now. I was carrying dinner out to the LGDs who met me at the paddock fence. I looked at sheep shed. A BLACK VULTURE was perched right above the maternity pen!!!
I dropped the food bowls and ran screaming, Leo boofing to assist. Hera stopped to eat the food. The bird took off towards the pond. No injuries thank goodness!
I ordered a 25'x25' aviary net for 1 day Prime. Review are good and show owl sitting on it and tree branches without breaking it. no attack tomorrow while it's 100F and I can't sit outside.
The net I got was useless. Hera is on house arrest in maternity pen since she's been getting out.
I am SO done with being sick! It's 94F, low humidity, and cloudy. Perfect outside weather. All I managed to do today is:
- 1 Tpost installed
- bought feed
- 1 hour at park for kids
- 15min of weed whacking with wheeled mower to uncover broken fence area.
