Sheetrock tidied and trim taped in place for picture. Other side will be harder because it involves sheet rock unless I say f it and just use wide trim board. That would be a lot easier...

I love barn doors where you can use them. Swing doors are often put in unisable positions.
saw a model home once where the builders installed a hinged door soit seung into the toilet bowl giving you 20" THROUGH WHICH TO ENTER THE BATHROOM! What odiots!

Barn doors in bathrooms are ideal for elderly or disabled persons since if they fall the door can be lifted off the track insteal of the person falling and blocking the door to rescuers. If not enough space for a single 30-32" barn door get a larger track (or 2 tracks) and hang 2 narrow doors on either side of the opening.

@Ridgetop If you look at first picture you can see tight space I'm working with. The door frame relocation lets me turn the 30" door slab into barn door over 28" wide opening. The door slab will touch wall of bedroom with loft bed when open. The other side has ~6" min-wall before bedroom door. It will have to do.

If it works, I think it is great. I always look at the esiest way to fix anything first then move on from there. Only problem with barn doors in bathrooms is being able to lock them but with small children in the house, no need to lock doors. Besides you have a master bath for privacy - if there is any for moms!

LOL, It will have a simple hook latch for kids. I'm using removable pucks to fill in hole for normal door handle. If someone decided to lock themselves in, I can remove and reach the bar latch. Then someone's back side will get warm!

Right side framed in and the 1/2 trim strip that was on door jamb is perfect shim. I'll get some of the stupid MDF board in 1/2"X5 1/2" which will cover holes from nails and dented edge of sheetrock. Whenever we move out and get this place ready for tenants all the trim and linoleum will need replacing anyway.

My parent's upstairs hall bathroom had door swing in and there were 3 vertical drawers under countertop just inside door. So you could pull the drawers out about 6" and completely bar the door unless you took a Sawzall to it. I may have used that feature few times when I was in deep trouble, LOL.
