We have goats and chickens in the same area together. The goats are fed a medicated pellet feed. Inevitably some of the feed is pushed out of the trough by them.

Are there any ill effects of the chickens eating some of this feed?

Some medications are ok for one animal and not others and could cause death. I don't know if the medication in the goat feed is safe for chickens. The other thought is that the medication would probably be passed into the eggs you eat. I would find a way to keep the chickens away from the feed. But that is just me.

medicated with what drug? Monensin, Deocoquinate, or another coccidiostat? Check the lable on the bag find out what additive is in the feed then answer to your question will be easier.

It is Monensin.

It won't kill the chickens...It can actually control coccidiosis in them....the withdrawal time for meat birds is 5 days...But it shouldn't be fed to chickens laying eggs for consumption because no withdrawal times are available....Generally amprolium, corrid, is used as a coccidiostast in chickens....Probably better to keep them away if you are using them as egg layers....I have some bantam chickens in with a few of my wethers. They eat any pellet feed left over, also medicated with either decox or monensin, but they are not laying for egg consumption.
