Wow, I just started milking goats again after about 15 years off. Since then have been working in an office on the computer, now that I started milking, and got that many years older......my hands go numb at night...any one else have this? Started about a week after milking began.

Carpal tunnel. They make braces so that you can't curl your wrists in at night and it helps for mild cases. I am not sure if you can have flare ups that will go away, but it's worth trying the braces, stretching, etc. I ended up having surgery on one of my hands, but had other things going on with it also. Most people that I've talked to that have had surgery end up wishing they hadn't waited so long (if that's your worse case scenario!). Good luck--there's lots of info online about it. (Dartmouth-Hitchcock for ex.)

Maybe I'm the oddball here....

My hands bothered me when I first started milking - and yes, I work in an office too and have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome.... BUT... after a while milking seemed to help. My hads are stronger now and rarely do I get that numbness at night or that tingly feeling that comes with cts.

Not sure why, but it seemed to help me. Maybe it's just that milking is a different movement with hands in a different position??

I am hoping it goes away, I did get a brace yesterday to wear at night, which is the only time I have a problem. My hands are so much stronger now, I love that so I am crossing my fingers that it all goes away with the exercises I found on the website (thank you!!). What ever happens, I don't plan on giving up my girls, love them too too much. My husband is almost as bad as me about them, he has pretty much laid claim to all the babies this year, really surprised me!

My sister got some milk goats a few months ago. They are adorable! If we were allowed goats in town I would want a couple!

I think you need to live in the country, life is so sweet where you can have animals and not worry about the neighbors.... We only have 3.1 acres, but we have a big pasture, well two actually, barns, orchard, gardens, large yards, a 6000 gallon koi pond, chickens and Silver Fox meat rabbits.

I love my life.:D

I do believe I have DonnaBelle, don't think I have ever been so content and happy with my life. Everything is not perfect, we still have worries and money issues, but the peace I feel when I get home and out with my girls takes all the stress away. Only 5 more years and it will all be paid for!!! YAY!!

Livestock lover, cute name by the way.... that is what I am hoping for, I wore my brace last night and no issues at all, maybe that will help everything heal. Not giving up my milking goats!!!!!
