I ( successfully ) milked my goat for the first Time today! Considering I have no stand, stanchion, or leg ties, Lucy did very well! My question is this: her kids are 10 days old today. I was going to start penning them ( the kids)at night and milking her in the morning. Does that sound okay? Can I milk twice a day in a couple weeks or now or do I wait until the boys are weaned? That is one little tidbit I can't seem to find.

Thanks in advance!
( p.s for hose of you who may have seen my thread on my tube fed weakling Orchid, she's doing very well and is now on a bottle)

Wait a few more days, until you are sure that they are eating hay and chewing cuds. Some sources say 14 days, I go a bit longer. Like three weeks. It is worth the wait to know the kids aren't starving-hungry in the morning, although they will SAY they are. :p

We have kids (triplets) that were born April 1st, and we are still not milking the mom. But then we have two other does that we are milking.
