Congrats! But, if you've started with 7 girls and 2 boys - I'll probably get 7 boys and 2 girls...

Problem is all those girls make it harder to make culling decisions... much easier to say, boy/sell, boy/sell, girl/keep, boy/sell, boy/sell..... and so on.... and there are still a bunch to go...she might wind up with all boys from the ones she WANTS a girl from... now that's Murphy's Law...

Well....most of the crossbreds will be sold. Some are 1/2 boar, some 3/4. They were planned for income. So only 3/4, exceptional will be considered to retain. So far this kidding 4 of these are full Boer, 3 girl. Then, there's the issue of needing to buy another buck if I keep a large number of female. I do have 2 full Boer bucks. it'll work out. 3 more full does look like prob late Jan kidders.

As to start ratio -- heck, like @farmerjan says, could have all boys next. increase sales.

I find this one buck, Squeaker, has been giving me a high % female, plus brown kids . His first kids were few but, same deal, last year. That was his first yr of production -- bought him as a 6-7mo kid.

This bottle girl, a 3/4, is a real hellion. Strong, aggressive, active, big. Gets your attention! No wall flower there.

After 10:00 Trouble feeding...checked newbies.

FF had her kid fed and bedded. In fact one teat still sticky wet.
Other mom loving babes, talking...no nursing. sooo collar on her, tied up, shoved into wall and proceeded. Cleared plug, milked into bottle, fed twins. Half hr later, mom, twins and her dtr from last yr were all curled up to sleep.

We'll see what needs to happen tomorrow. She's been good mom for 2 kiddings. Milk bag wasn't tight, tomorrow should be. Might just need to push them up there. I'm going to bed! No more goating around tonight! Done.

"other mom", black doe, is nursing her twins like champ. guess she wasn't as ready as I was last night. FF is nursing, too. Checked tummies early morn but wanted to see it happening. Then I knew they were ok... Trouble and other set Fancy & Adam... Put all out for some exercise. They're in for naps now.

This "weather crap" is supposed to start up about dark or such. I'm as ready as I can get. Filled all water tubs + a few extra. In case we have a couple days to need access. Hoping no power loss.

While feeding, see a dirty butt....began looking while they were concentrating on hay ! Everywhere!! Dang. Fed bottle girl. Looked more. Finally, I find twins in one of two smaller sheds they rarely use.

Dark & I had no headlamp -- wasn't dark when I started -- one white, other looks maybe tan. Will know more in morning. But, did feel -- both girls . Yep, doe fairy still here.

Temps dropping. Moisture coming -- snow?
