Today's new mom and son went nicely into barn. Put the 2 dy old doeling in stall with....maybe she can be friends with new guy & mom is a gentle one. Mom had grain, water hay, girl had a bottle. New boy nursed a little & laid down for a nap. The two are close in size -- big. I'll bottle but pretty sure Mom will teach both to be a goat. Playmates anyway. 🤞☺️ Mom got aspirin for her pain in rear.

Pics tomorrow. New guy is all sort of colors 😵‍💫

What a mess. This doe took off for herd, leaving doeling asleep. Would not go back!🥴😱😡. Disowned the kid. Later 3 of us spent about an hour to get her in the barn. Tried to be nice, she wouldn't come to baby. We corralled, jumped, ran, moved gates & fence panels -- finally said WTH and snatched her by her hind leg while she was crowding into some feed...with 10 others! We fought. DS came to help (she weighed close to double me!) and we wrestled her to barn. Maniac! She won't let kid nurse, or let me milk. Before being savaged...I cussed and left them for night -- praying for best. Nope. Now I'm bottling.

So, this afternoon another FF went into labor and with help, we delivered a BIG buckling. Thankfully, she's infatuated with her son & is tame. So after she gets a few private time, I'll move them to barn.

Let me tell you, after playing like a football qtrback & lineman, I was ready for some ibuprofen & acetaminophen at bedtime -- which came early at 8pm. I had to lay down & stretch out. Muscles I didn't even know were there hurt! What's this about "prime"??? Guess I'm ok, kept up with the other two youngins :old. Today I'm fine...things back to normal.

Uhhh....that witch of a doe is going to auction 1/11. She's a nice doe, structure wise but, I'm not dealing!!🤬 whatever $$ is fine.

She's a @farmerjan decision -- no attitudes stay.
Didn't know whether to laugh or cry or cuss.... Yeah, these "attitudes" can go have their tantrums somewhere else. Sad that she did it... I give any of my difficult ones a little lecture... This is a dictatorship, not a democracy... Your job is to have this baby and raise it successfully.... if you choose not to do that, the alternative job is a permanent job at McDonalds... sometimes they decide to take their chances on their second choice... Okay... have a nice (short) life...

Maybe the bottle kid will get the idea from the new baby and find the udder... FF, so will be a little hard on her, but she might be accepting... and you can supplement the bottle one instead of having to feed every 3-4 hours... and feed the new momma lots of extra goodies if she helps feed it some... But as you say, playmate and "sleepmate" in the cold... that will be helpful in the coming days of much colder temps... and learning to get around is great for them... always more fun with someone to do it with; and teaching it to be a goat...

One reason I fed the calf once a day even though the cow was letting it nurse... it was learning to be a "cow"... as well as making sure it was getting enough to eat. It has worked out pretty good so far.

Well mom is 1/4 Saanen, 1/4 Nubian & 1/2 Boer (sire)....Dad to this kid, full Boer. All parents & grands have these ears, his are just a little long.

Just did night feed and so cute, mom goat made him get up and nurse while I bottled mine 🤣 woke him up!

Gonna be 30* tonight, so I checked all the moms & babes to be sure tucked in. They were 🥰

Ever notice the winter babes are born with a heavier coat than the summer babes? Yep, it's a fact.
