Thank you.

Since my wife and I moved to Mississippi we have met quite a few shepherds and are seeing this industry (preoccupation-obsession) grow by leaps and bounds.

Have attended a few sheep-goat auctions and visited several private farms. Wound up buying foundation stock from the private farms whose animals (Dorper/Khatadan crosses) seemed to be healthier.

I'm looking forward to sharing information and gaining insight from other shepherds in MS & other areas.

Thanks again, Elevan

Hi there! I am from Northern Mississippi. I currently only raise birds. I am hoping to start my rabbit husbandry soon. I raise chickens, guineas, and peafowl right now.

I am so glad that summer has passed!

Now we're getting some decent weather and our animals are not as stressed, nor am I.

N.E. Mississippi is beautiful in the fall & winter.

Wish I had moved here 30 years ago.

Hoping to start raising Rhode Island Reds in the spring. We butchered the last of our chickens a couple of weeks ago. Will start up again in March-April.

Do free range your Guinea's? Neat birds, but they always seem to stray all over the place.

Can you tell me a little about them? Any trouble with coyotes, dogs or other predators?

Thanks,

I just found this site, if anyone from Mississippi is still around I would like to talk with you. Nothing major, just good old farmer to farmer honesty or fisherman's tall tales and lies :)
