Okay so I used to have a rabbit I bought and a few days later it died,it had HUGE flakes in its ear that I didnt realize til after it died that it was mites .

Well now my rabbit has a few white scab looking things on the like outline of his ear(front) . Im not sure if thats what it is but I think so,I seen on her before a homemade sorta treatment, any ideas ?

We dont have any vets around here that will treat small animals so thats not an option :(

Ear mites are on the inside surface of the ear, and are easily smotherable. Just drip some mineral oil into the ear (2-3 drops per ear), rub it around the entire inside of the ear, and let the rabbit shake it out. That will remove the crud they leave, as well as smother the mites. Repeat every day for about 4 days. You really only need vet intervention and parasite treatment if the crud keeps building up after that (meaning you're not killing them all with the mineral oil).

I had a doe that had ear mites bad and mineral oil wasn't working. I used the cat ear mite med from Walmart and it cleared her right up.

I was told that as long as its for grooming animals it would be fine.

I've found Ivermectin (Durvet) to be the best solution for ear mites. It gets rid of any problems and they don't come back. I use the paste and treat them with a small pea-sized portion in the mouth (using a popsicle stick) and 10 days later another dose. Then I know they're good for at least a year. That dose is for NZW sized rabbits.

This is an image of what the stuff I use looks like: http://images.auctionants.com/5-108646.jpg

Personally, I treat my rabbits once a year. And if I get new stock, they get quarantined and treated as well.

Yours might have been dry skin or a number of things. Remember that the incubation period for the eggs is 10 days. So whatever method you are using, plan accordingly.
