Hi,

My name is Ana. We don't have any cows yet, but hope to be "ready" for some by Spring of this year. I have a lot to learn! It's going to take us a few months to get our fencing & other preparations made, before we can actually keep any cows, but I can hardly wait!

I'm really looking forward to getting to know y'all too.

I love them all! It's tough to decide on a breed, but I have limited space so I'll have to pick one. :) We have a little over 20 acres, but also will have horses & other animals that need space.

I know a couple of ranchers here who have hereford and black angus, and they've told me a bit about those breeds.

I've been reading up on the miniatures, but I don't know anyone who has them, so any info is appreciated.

Thanks for the welcome!

well, farmer kitty has helped me alot. And so has the others. I have only 5 acres and live in florida. I have only had my cows since May of this year. I recived them when they where 7 month. Since then I've been asking ?,s!!!From feed to poop, to how do they handle the weather. I'm in halter breaking and lead right now. And have only till Jan 9th to get them ready. We are having cattle camp then and they have to be somewhat mangeable. My grandkids and my bestfreind son wants to show them for 4-h in March at the fair. As for me thier pets. Maybe the off spring if bul is freezer meat. I want to try milking cow , but the hubby says no. But am happy I finally got my cows! one is Angus/Charolais thats sara-lu and Reba is Hereford/Beefmaster as what I was told. But as soon as I learn how to do the pics, I'm asking Farmer kitty to see what they think.Well I better stop typing for now. Mare

Wow, did everyone leave Montana? There hasn't been a post in 4 years. I'm fairly active over in BYC, but just came over here, I'm sure there must be someone in MT that has animals they would like to talk about.
I have chickens (lots), horses (11), dogs (2), would like a dairy cow (jersey), some beef cows, and a pig or 2. Have also been thinking about meat rabbits, but don't think I could kill bunnys.
Hope to see some action here.
