I had recently gotten a pygmy goat buck, and at first, he was very shy. He wouldn't even let me go within 3 feet of him, but now he is very friendly. I had another one, but I could only touch him while I was feeding him. He was very very aggressive. But this one is very friendly to me now. He's like my doe, and he's not castrated. He has not yet used his horns except to pull a few plants down, while my other one ALWAYS used his horns, whether to butt me or another goat. But I find it very strange that my buck is so friendly, I've never seen one like him. Why is he so friendly? He's only aggressive around my doe, but other than that he's so sweet. He's like a puppy, but I just don't understand why he's so friendly, and its only to me. He hates my family members, they can't even think about touching him. Why?

Simply put he trusts you. :) :) :)

All our bucks are friendly. Our kiko buck is huge with spirally huge horns... never has he used them on us or anyone even during rut. However he is a bit standoffish (by that I mean avoidance) to thos ein the family that doesn't take care of him and interact rvryday.
Our ND buck "Will" is like a puppy, loves his great pyrenees and his people... and he thinks he should be rushed if you are brushing the dogs, he wants hugs, scratches and will pretty nuch try to sit in your lap. Same way in rut. Caleb our other ND buck came to us later but warmed to us, he is more like the Kiko, yet he does or did loved to get loved on until he had a severe eye injury and after 2 weeks of 2x day injections and eye cleaning treatments that were probably painful he doesn't come to close anymore. :(

All my ND bucklings are super lovey... none get wethered here.. I only sell intact.

We had a buck given to us for food once... this buck was sweet as could be BUT if a doe was in heat... he was dangerous... took my teen daughter down and pummelled her... took two very large adult teens to grab him off her and hold him til everone could get out ofthe pen safely. Daughter had just put up a doe that was in heat and went into the holding pen. It happened in a spit second. We knew the buck and how he could get, can't blame the buck... he went to the slaughter house the next day. He was already scheduled but they weren't able to get him in for a week.

My three bucks are very friendly.

Buck Naked (Nigerian) is a tiny bit standoffish but he likes to be petted, loves to have his head scratched with the rake (can't rake up the compost pile when he's around :p) can get a little testy, especially if someone is in heat or he gets scared, but nothing that causes me to like him any less. He walks great by the collar and is easy to work with.

Captain Jack Sparrow (Nigerian) is much friendlier, but much more a pain when trying to do things like make him walk where you want or trim another goats hooves. He is always up in your face trying to get petted, snacks, whatever you have. He likes have a lot more attention than Buck Naked.

Orphan Andy (boer) is shy but friendly. Once he is sure you aren't going to give him a shot, he likes to be petted. I love this boy the best. He is super mellow. Walks well by the collar and is just plain easy going.

I wouldn't keep a buck that was mean or dangerous. Our bucks are as sweet as the does. I can't emphasize to always be careful, especially during rut, but boys should be nice. They deserve attention just like the girls and it isn't fun caring for mean or dangerous animals. I love my boys! :love

My bucks are big babies (nigerian dwarf).. just have to watch out when a have does in heat and then they beat around and I have been caught by accident.. or peed on or rubbed that lovely musky pee from their beards all over me!!! I love my boys.. just don't get to cuddle as much with them as when they were little!
