My fence finally came in!!! YIPPEE

We ended up opting for the 4ft. no climb horse fence. It looked like the strongest and the one that would be safest for any kind of animal much less the goats. We wont have to worry about bigger spaces when little ones are born either....I hope I made the right choice.

edit to add: I hope I can install it properly now! LOL

Good luck getting your fence up.
I assume you already have your fence stretcher and come-a-long? That's the most important part for getting the fence tight. We just did our new fence, we do have some spots that aren't as tight as we really hoped for but they look good and are as tight as we could get them. We had to use our SUV to hook the come-a-long to for some of the stretching and trees for other parts. Actually the worst part for us to get done was the gate. DH had the hardest time getting it to do what he wanted. Took us 3 weekends to get the fencing done. DH works nights during the week so weekends were the only time available to work on the fence. First weekend DH and my FIL got the fencing up 95% of the way. 2nd weekend we couldn't do much because of rain and we were waiting on the phone company to come out and remark and bury a line. 3rd weekend we finally got the last little bit done and the gate up and were able to put the goats in the new area.

Would love to see pictures when you get the fence done too. We used goat/sheep fence.

We do have the come along and we are going to use the 2 2x4 method...bolting them on to the fence and then pulling it. I hope we can get it.

That's how we did it too. My dad had an extra stretcher that was made in that method and let us borrow it. When I was talking about returning it he said we could keep it since he has another one. So now we have our own stretcher.

When we put up our fence, the first 330' we hand tightened with hammers. One person (aka me) would take the claw of the hammer and put it into the wire and wrap the fence around the post real tight (starting at the top, where my mom went around and marked 50" from the ground) and two people would hammer in the staples at two posts. I would then go down two or three horizontal wires and tighten it again. I continued to do it all the way to the bottom.

After the first roll, my uncle was done installing the gate so he went and got his fence stretcher out of his car and on his way back he saw an old bent T-post in our 'junk' cart (to take to the dump) so he brought that with him to where we were. After he connected the two rolls of fencing, he took the T-post, straightened it out, and weaved it in and out of the fencing in between two posts and took the fence stretcher and connected it to the T-post and also the wood post that was on the side we didn't need to staple yet. He stretched it over 6-7 wood posts because we had six people hammering so we got six posts stapled in the time it takes to do one!
