Ridin' The Range
So we've been rocking the "redneck buck housing project" for a while....moving them in tractors when I had the girls out to allow grazing, free ranging when the girl goats weren't out, and sleeping in a decrepit shed as a barn at night...this was NOT working! Too much work moving goats all day back and forth and we've been in the new place long enough it isn't new anymore....so I, all by myself except for hanging the gate, I built a new pen! It's wompy in spots, not quite square in spots, and I don't care, to me it is the BEST pen ever! It's where I have been the last 3 or 4 days instead of on BYH I've been taking advantage of the dry weather as long as it lasts!
The new bucks are in it now as I type...we'll see how goat proof it proves to be....eventually I plan to open it out to the wooded area behind it - for now I can let them free range a little still and I shall add some toys this coming week....and a real roof...their sleeping area needs a real roof. It's rocking more redneck engineering and a tarp for now....
Without further ado I give you the happiest bucks in the world tonight and their new home:
Notice the redneck tarp covering....hope it makes it a week or two like that until I find the strength to build again....
According to my husband, the only straight angle out there is the horizon...I don't care as long as it keeps them in
The help....sleeping on the job again!
And finally, if you look closely, you can see the boys out there investigating their new digs!
So...I've been a BUSY little bee...like that song says...ain't no rest for the wicked and money don't grow on trees! Until a few more paychecks have come and gone that's gonna have to work...at which point I will open it up to the frontage that is wooded....and put a real roof on there for them Just sharing what me and my goats have been doing....
