Exploring the pasture
Trans plant from more country setting Probably not the proper thing to be doing, but it makes me happy & neighbors are ok with it. I am a long time city resident now of about 25 years. Had a horse and nubian goat on about 10 acres of ground ages ago. Really miss all of that. Don't want horses I have to board (so that was not an option for me). Part of the joy of having them was to watch them free in field beside where I lived. Love the nubian goats but also not an option for 2 in space here. I happened to see these 2 little adult nigerian dwarf goats and fell in love. Well, they now live here, pool side. Really shouldn't. Very nice people I got them from, raised them from babies. Two different parents goats. They lived in country setting now raising boar goats. They were looking for a home for these 2. Had several inquires because of their small size for breeding. They were almost 2 yrs. and been together since bottle babies. They didn't want to separate them and didn't think she could be bred because she hadn't since they had them. So turned people away who wanted them for breeding. Well, they are smaller than my GS dogs. I bought them. He never acted real bucky or didn't have a strong scent. That was in July of 2012. I was going to have him castrated but was in no hurry because of the that fact. Well I'm pretty sure she is expecting and He just got castrated about a week ago. I should not have waited, but the fact is that I did and now the fact of her expecting is a concern for me. Never did this before. This will be the one and only, as he is now fixed. Have been reading everyone's post about kidding. Really nervous! Didn't want this to happen, My fault for dragging my feet. NOt even sure when she was bred. I'm in love with these little goats. They make me laugh every day. Just wish I had been more responsible about this. The vet said that they were just not mature enough before. I don't know. . This is kind of bitter sweet. Sorry for the rambling. I have 6' plastic fence around my back yard part pavers part grass and stones. Great for keeping the hooves down. They have an igloo dog house they sleep in and a penned area for when I need to contain them. They go there at night and when I'm not home. They seem very happy and bounce around the yard and cement benches and tables and the other lawn furniture when out. They live with a pet duck I've had for 10 years or so.
