I wrote previously on a buck that was born about a week and a half ago....yall are probably hear too much about him already...lol. Anyway he is doing very well. I had a Suprise this morning when my milk doe decided to kid out way before I thought she would. She had a single kid and right before the birth I raced over and grabbed up the buckling to see if she would take him as it would be great (his mom is just not able feed him very wel, I already suplement him with a bottle). She took right to him....licking him and talking to him. I tried to get him to nurse...he is not interested yet. She LOVES him and licks him...has all this great milk...I am thinking maybe if he gets hungry enough he will nurse. I left him with her....he will walk under her but no luck with him eating yet......

any pointers...... has anyone done this?.....It would be a miracle for me if he would take to her.

Are you keeping them in a small pen together? Take some of the milk he is used to drinking and put it on one of her teats. Then put his mouth up to it. I would think if he gets hungry enough, he will eat.

x2. Keep them together. You've already crossed one hurdle which is getting her to take him. If he learned out to take a bottle he can learn how to nurse again hopefully. Get her teat to smell like his milk and when he's hungry, stick him on there and cross your fingers. You may have to help him a little and put the teat in his mouth a couple times if he doesn't get it.

You will have to get the teat in his mouth, and let him know that is now where the food comes from. If he wont, nurse give him a couple hours after trying and try again, if he nurses for a couple minutes than let him be for 4 or 5 hours. then show him where it is again. keep doing this until he runs to her to nurse. supplement him with 1/3 to half a feeding with the bottle, so he doesn't get to weak.

Good luck.
