I have a bonded pair (male/female) of miniature donkeys, and a new donkey baby. I’ve separated mom/baby and dad, but dad is miserable. How long should this be going on?

Right now I’ve got them in adjacent pens, but they’ve never been separated before. I think mom is ok with it for now, but he is keening….
