Well I went and took her out today and she seems to be doing much better, she is still charging a bit but she just pushes on my hand. She even licked my finger!shes one weird bunny. Could it be she was in heat and now shes not?

That is the way my two does behaved. One day they were almost fine the next they were little tigers. The people I gave them to are using them to breed for meat and love them.

Tapping her on the nose is not a good way to handle her. Punishment doesn't work on rabbits. Try giving her a favorite treat like a slice of apple and petting her while she's eating it. The fact that she only attacks when you are reaching into the cage means it's a territorial issue. You have to give her the idea that you reaching into the cage is a good thing. It means she may be in for a treat.

Don't think rabbits have heat periods since they ovulate after mating - it's triggered by the act of mating anyway.

I second that! I changed my sweetest, most affectinate rabbit into an aggressive one by accident. Whoops! Thankfully I understand animal behavior and behavior modification, so she's coming around. Still suspicious in that situation, but relaxing.

We got a rabbit from a friend and she was as I called her "the devil incarnet" she was mean as spit and bit and scratched to beat all and was going to the stew pot after she had her litter.
BUT after she had her litter she is now a nice little girl who will let you hold and pet her now. And she was a good mom and her litter is sweet as can be.
So I think sometimes it is hormonal and the fact that she was in a home with little kids that probably tormented her. But after I breed her she turned into a doll.
So I would go by your gut feeling and see what happens.
