I need a creative idea to cook over a hundred eggs at once. Soon, please, they're taking over the fridge.
I don't have dogs and my dad doesn't want me to feed them to the chickens (reasons too long to explain). Would cats eat 'em?Farmer Kitty said:
I have a similar problem. If you really want to use them up, scramble them! People eat more eggs when they are scrambled than with them fried. The leftovers will be greatly enojoyed by the chickens and dogs.
No, he's thinking about feeding chickens things they aren't naturally supposed to eat. Technically, it's cannibalism. He doesn't want to support that. I fully understand his thinking.Farmer Kitty said:They may. You would have to try them and see.
Feeding eggs to the chickens is a good source of protein. When they are scrambled they no longer resemble an egg and therefore will not cause egg eaters, if that is what he is worried about.

Great tips! I'll have to try some of these out.sunnygoats said:If you'd like to freeze some you can crack an egg into a small, oiled cup-like container (some people use ice trays). Lightly break the yolk before you freeze it. After they're frozen, just pop the eggs out of the container and store them in a freezer bag.
The yolk may sometime become a bit rubbery so if you plan on using the eggs for dessert recipes put a little sugar in the egg before freezing. If you plan on using it for a non-dessert recipe put a little salt in it before freezing.
These are not too good for fried eggs or other "stand alone" egg dishes, but they are wonderful for baking. In the summer when I have an abundance of eggs I freeze some to use in the winter when my chickens are not laying as well.
