Oh @isra , I so understand your loss and sorrow :hugs ...I have nigerian dwarf goats and have just lost a pregnant doe and her babies to a vaginal prolapse, then had a very wondeful kidding with her sister who had two bucklings on VALENTINE'S day (friday) ....sunday morning we found one of the bucklings accidentally hung himself upside down and long story short , I had to end his suffering also...
Opening yourself to having animals also opens a space for heartbreak....it dosen't happen often thankfully, but the heartache is deep.
BYH is the place that understands the Joy's of new life and the sorrow of loss, you have joined a wonderful community of caring and understanding people. ...We learn, share , teach, and support each other.....
Welcome to BYH, I am so sorry for your loss of your pregnant doe, but happy you found your way here :hugs

Thank you so much. And I am so very sorry for your losses. I was on BYH the better part of the day through random googling and realized it was still an active forum and thought, who better to understand how this feels than other goat owners? Didnā€™t anticipate the warmth or level of interaction and camaraderie and itā€™s only day 1 on BYH. Thank you all.

This is who and what we are...a bunch of crazy happy people that enjoy our "farm" style life and animals, you will find lots of goaties here. Some show, some breed for improvement and breed standard, some milk and some sell what they make as products from the milk...and some have them as pets...but we love our crazy goats :love glad you are feeling comfortable....:)

Iā€™m not sure about other animals- not a huge fan of owning chickens personally, thought long and hard about a miniature cow until someone told me they still have full-size poop. :)

I can give you the mini cow fix.

Hello, Iā€™m new here- and new to goats- I live in a very urban area but lucky enough to have a good amount of land and no HOA :) Iā€™ve had goats since May of last year.

Iā€™ve always wanted goats and had one for about a year as a kid (until it ā€œwent back to the farmā€ after he got loose and ate the neighbors roses and garden). I love animals in general and have two cats as well. Iā€™m looking into getting a dog (which would also be a first for me as well) just because of coyotes in our area becoming more and more prevalent.

I started looking for more resources and support this past weekend when I lost my pregnant doe, Luna, and her baby due to birthing complications. It was unexpected and im still finding it difficult to cope with what happened.

Grateful for the abdundance of information and experiences Iā€™ve read thus far on this site.

I currently have a Nigerian dwarf wether, Dobby, and got a new doe yesterday as a companion for him because I couldnā€™t bear to leave him alone and crying all day. The new doe is a Sanaan/ Nubian - Nigerian mix. She also came with her 2 week doeling. Both are still unnamed at this point.

I just enjoy them as pets, no milking or breeding.

Look forward to meeting the rest of you/ your herds.

-Isra

This is my lovely Luna, who passed this weekend. She was a Pygmy and the gentlest little creature.

This is Dobby, my wether, who was Lunaā€™s baby-daddy.
