Ok now for the advice part. :D Make sure you have your fence up. I have seen pictures of your duck enclosure and that is a perfect set up for goats too. Even down to the little shed you made. That is very similar to what my goats are in. Goats don't like to be wet so as long as they have a dry shelter to cozy up in when it rains or snows they are good to go. Mine spend all the rest of the time outside and on most dry nights they actually prefer to sleep outside in their pen. Have some good hay for them, probably the same that you feed the alpacas would be great. Questions to ask the current owner. Have they been all housed together, meaning are they all used to each other. Have they had kids before? When were they last wormed and with what type of wormer? Do they feed grain and what kind? You don't want to switch their diet all at once. If you are planning on milking, ask if these girls have ever been milked. I am sure I will think of more, but in the mean time just ask questions on here and plan on reading for hours on here too (that is what I do) There are lots of great goat people on here and I would be lost with out all of the help I have gotten. :D

Hi! It's me Chandra ;) ........so you are getting goats!!!!! :weee :weee :weee

I have my 2 nubian does and they are going to be bred to a nigerian dwarf buck. So I will have the same cross you are "just looking at" ;) So exciting. I have learned tons and tons on here so feel free to PM me with any and all questions. So happy you are here. :weee :weee
Chandra!!! :hugs You MUST be my sister from another mister! Figures I'd be after a similar cross that you have! My first question for you...Can I have your barn? :hide

A friend let me borrow 2 Goat books (goat medicine and goat farming), plus I have Barnyard in your Backyard...which sums up what my homestead looks like. :/ I will most definitely seek your advice. I'll have my camera ready tomorrow, and will post pics. Maybe the best advice will start with what you think of 'em when you see them?

Thanks a bunch and so glad to "see" you again! :D

Ok remember, my "barn" is just a metal lean-to building with a wooden front put on 1/4 of it for the chickens. So what I did for my goats is made them a small shelter with a dirt floor inside the next section over from the chicken part. Then put lots of bedding down and they love it. Nigerian dwarfs and Nubians are my favorite........so far. Just be careful, goats are as addicting as chickens. :p

Great memory! The duck house was intended for goats. We were supposed to get 2 last year, a pygmy cross and her doeling baby. They both died before we brought them home. :( The owner said the mom was dehydrated and the baby may have died of depression.

I am writing down these questions to ask the owner. It is a perfect start! You're the best Chandra!
