Hello, Backyard Herds! I have bought a 10 acre property in Ingham County, Michigan. It has a 1920’s farm house and has been a horse facility. I plan to get a few goats first, but also interested in donkeys, maybe a few cows. Living the dream!

Welcome to BYH! :welcome

Sounds very exciting! Make sure your fences are great, goats are excellent escape artists. I love goats, buckets of personality, and there is nothing better than fresh goat milk.

Welcome also
:welcome:thumbsup. Not a goat person, we have a cow/calf beef operation, bigger than most on here but I am a "homesteader " at heart. I also have some dairy cows and use as nurse cows, sheep, chickens... and have had about every other animal at one time or another.
Bless your heart for living in the "cold country".... I recently bought a 1920's house on 2 acres close to my son's house, and one farm he just bought, as well as several places we rent.

Gardening again after a couple years of not having one... one thing I suggest... get as much food and supplies stockpiled as you can, because things are going to get tough.... Chickens are a good "fairly easy" livestock to start with... not as big an investment as say goats, and can provide eggs and meat fairly quickly.
