I feel your pain. Life with a diabetic is like living on a roller coaster! Hope things level out for you.
Thanks! We had things mostly lined out on MDI (multiple daily injections). He was running really high though since the smallest we could dose was 0.5u. The pump can do 0.05u which is much better.
I knew it was going to be an adjustment but that doesn't stop me from whining, LOL. Fingers crossed we can get it mostly tuned in before he goes back to school and I go back to work...

Is he on a Medtronic pump? We used one of those for many years but... At some point, when he's more stable with his blood sugars you might ask your endocrinologist about the Omni Pod. DH loves it! It "talks" to the Dexcom sensor (continuous glucose monitor) and makes micro adjustments as needed. Best thing for DH is that there are no tubes! The only small negative, which really isn't bad, is that they only last "up to 3 days." Ours generally last only 2 days before needing to be changed. Changing is very simple and easy though and takes maybe 5 minutes.

It is definitely a life adjustment, but you'll get there. Oh - and over 20 years later - I'm still whining, lol!

@frustratedearthmother He is on the Tandem Mobi insulin pump. Families that have tried it and OmniPod generally say the algorithm is MUCH better on Tandem. A big thing is our 4 days of school are wildly different than non-school days. With Mobi you can make separate profiles. OmniPod uses data from last several pods to set algorithm with almost no adjustment allowed by user. Other families have had issues with that on our kind of split schedule.

So I think this will be great once we get settings tuned. It’s just tuning them is a pain.

That's awesome! I'm not familiar with it but sounds like it's a great option!

What can I substitute for a 12 percent all stock feed, not sweet feed? I can’t get to Atwood’s which is the usual. I’ve always understood that feeding only sweet feed will cause problems. Nutrena doesn’t have a product. Google is frustratingly stupid on the subject. Help!

What are you feeding?
Soaked beet pulp has always been my go-to when my cow needs feed.
