New milk goat - help! Lol

Here she is! First two pics were from yesterday.

The rope was temporary. She LOVES her shelter. She was pretty big yesterday, we thought she was pregnant but now I'm wondering if it may have been what she was being fed.

So here she is today! Since we're not drinking the milk yet we let our daughter milk her some after we had gotten most. The jar below was the second quart. I will add that we still did a teat dip, teaching our daughter how to clean up before and after. She won't be out there without us but still a good lesson for her.

Here's her bag after my first attempt which I will say was a challenge. Her milk did NOT want to come out at first. I massaged her but that didn't seem to do much good so I just gently kept attempting to milk till it finally came out. That left side was really slow.

Front right hoof, I could only get this shot bc she got startled so we just left her alone for now. He said he cleaned up the hooves but from what I remember I'd say they still need trimming. Am I right?

Please excuse the mess, but this shows where we have her. I'd guess it's about 100ft x100ft.

Hooves don't look infected and that growth could have happened in a month so maybe he did clean up the hooves but YES they need trimmed asap.

If you wipe down the udder and clean it the warm water usually helps with let down... strip, and milk like you did.

In the pic- it is hard to tell - are both udders working? It looks like there is only one side.

Not sure about cost- each vet is different.

Great! Glad hooves look good, overall. I Will get pics of the rest later though.

Both udders are working but one was much bigger then the other, and slightly warm. I'm thinking he may not have milked it out as much as the other, and he wasn't regular in milking either, just basically when he had time. *eye roll*

Her other hooves look good bit definitely need trimming. I couldn't get pics yet, lol, but I did look. Teeth look good too. Full set and pretty clean, in my opinion.

She milks out quite nicely!

You may have some hoof wall separation on the one toe (left toe in pic) hard to tell but keep working on trimming and getting the proper angle and her legs will hold up nicely.

All in all she looks like a nice doe. Very happy for you.
I may have missed it but does she have a buddy?

Because you do not know if she has been on anti-biotics or dewormed a safer withdrawal would be 30 days. Continue milking but pitch the milk.

Curious - could the milk still be used for soapmaking?

To my knowledge you can make milk with the soap but that is an interesting question, never thought about really.

She does milk out well, that is a good sign. Definitely get her some high protein feed, Saanens are HUGE producers and she will need the calories and the protein. Calf manna is a good supplement, just go easy introducing it as @alsea1 suggested. She is a nice looking doe.
