Wow!!! Seems like since the first of April we have had babies born daily. We now have a herd of multicolored commercial Spanish kids that stick together and romp around like a bunch of rowdy human kids on a playground. At first only one momma goat stayed back to "babysit" the kids, but now since the number of kids romping around is so much, yesterday I noticed an additional yearling doe was hanging back to watch all these kids.
Yesterday we had the first ever Pure Koy Ranch Spanish kids born at Calfee Farms. We had 2 single bucklings born out of first time mommas we bought right off the Koy Ranch in Eldorado, TX. To my knowledge, these are the first Koy Ranch kids ever born in Knox Co. and for that matter in East Tennessee. With these 2 bucklings, we start the preservation of this majestic type of Spanish goat which is on the ALBC's "watch" list. Kinda ironic that these Spanish kids were born on Cinco de Mayo.
