Hi my name is Erin. Just got our first bottle baby goats almost 2 weeks ago.
We have the 2 kids, 2 milking cows, 2 steers (meat boys), 2 pigs (although they are off to freezer camp tomorrow) 2 dogs (herd protection), 4 cats (rodent control), a handful of chickens (eggs) 3 ducks (slug patrol) 3 turkeys (thanksgiving) 4 parakeets, a few fish, and a red eared slider. LOL I think that is all. My cousin has introduced us to goats and we got a couple 1\2 Kiko,1\2 LaMancha\Alpine doelings from her.

Anyway just saying hello from Western Washington. :)

Greetings and welcome to BYH Erin, from NE TX! So glad you joined us. You must be feeding a large family to need 3 turkeys for Thanksgiving! :ep;) Sounds like you have a great group of critters! Perhaps you'll share some pics with us? Great group of goat folks here (as well as cow folks, pig folks, dog & cat folks.. you get the idea) and there's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. I recommend at least your state as most folks won't be able to figure out where if you put anything more specific (county, town, street, etc) by itself. Old folks like me :old will never remember from your above post & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!

Yes I'll get some pics up soon. They are on the other puter that I'm to lazy right now to go grab. ;)

3 turkeys? Well we do have a large family. When my family comes over there are about 35 with lots of teenage boys in there, so yup need lots of turkey. We do usually give one away or save it for later and one always seems to 'disappear' before the big day since they free range the place.

We are thinking Kinder goats since they sound like a great dual purpose breed. We'll be needing a companion for our little doeling as her sis has died. :( The hazards of having animals, esp young ones. Sigh. Thankfully we were able to 'borrow' a couple from my cousin for company until we find another buddy for her.

Thanks everyone, happy to have found this site.
