I have only had sheep for a little while. I am pretty sure i read somewhere that there is shot you give ewes before you plan on breeding them. Maybe it was before they lamb? I cant remember and I was hoping some of you could help me!
Thanks

You're probably thinking of the CD/T shot, which is normally given 1 month before lambing. If your sheep are up to date on it, then they only need a yearly booster (a month before lambing). If they've never had it, then they need 1 shot and a booster 3-4 weeks later. If your ewes are not up to date, or you're not sure of their status, go ahead and give one shot 2 months prior to lambing and the booster 1 month later. :) Lambs will need their own shot at 8 weeks, and a booster 3-4 weeks later.

Could be a Selenium shot, given before lambing. Depends on your local area. If your area is known to be low
in Selenium, like the East Coast, Midwest, then I would give a Selenium shot. Lamb will probably need one also,
after being born to prevent White Muscle Disease and death.

Checking with other local sheep keepers, the Vet, can help you with information specific to your area. Lot of Western
States that have PLENTY of Selenium in the ground, so a shot would not be needed. My local area has NO Selenium
in the dirt or feed we grow, so Selenium added to feed is required for all the livestock species.
