Is noble goat feed the only thing besides browsing they get? Goats need minerals. Loose minerals are better than the lick block. They should get free choice hay depending on what kind. We feed alfalfa twice a day maybe a snack in the afternoon. What breed are they? @Southern by choice @Goat Whisperer @babsbag

By the way congrats on your new goaties.

"HAY" there @Jarvis16 :frow Welcome to BYH and ownership of goats! Since your goats are wethers, you really have to be careful about UC... Urinary Calculi... urinary stones. Normally only an issue with males, and the biggest issue with wethers. Here's a link: http://www.ansc.purdue.edu/SP/MG/Documents/SLIDES/Urinary calculi.pdf Most folks pretty much give their adult male goats free choice hay 24/7, and the goat chow while they're growing. Just go really light on grains (as treats). Make sure the minerals/feed have AC (Ammonium Chloride). Anyway, congrats and glad you joined us. If you have a few pics you could share, we're all pretty much picture whores here... love em'! Browse around :cafand make yourself at home!

Common misconception. Alfalfa is high in calcium and so many think that is what causes the stones. It is actually too high phosphorus that causes stones. So alfalfa is fine. You want a calcium to phosphorus 2:1 or greater ... up to a 4:1 ratio.

BOSS is HIGH in phosphorus. Be careful , a treat here or there is one thing but part of the regular diet will cause that Phosphorus to be out of balance.

They do need some hay. Really any kind is good.

Minerals are necessary. Manna Pro is a good one.

@Latestarter has already given you the best link to understanding UC in goats.
