Hi MikkeyP, welcome to the board!
What kind of quails? I have always wanted to get some Bobwhites, but I have never rasied quails and know nothing about them!

If I left all the tractor work to the MAN, nothing would ever get done! He is kind of excused, he works off farm, and is rarely home before dark!

welcome to the herd! mikkeyp, this group is great and your'll feel like you have been here forever! you place sounds great. and sounds like you want to get back to earth. i'm still working on that. i have just 2 herifers, and 2 hens, 1 rooster. have a garden but not living off of it. we do eat out of it. but if we had to survie well that's another story. our herifers are beef, but only pets. if i do bred them, the off spring if bull will be freezer. but haven't found a bull yet to bred with. i have small cows, only 435 and 450 pds. they are 15 month old. the gang here are helping beef them up. when i first got them and went to cattle camp, everyone thought they were mini's. so i ask for help and when we had a one day cattle camp and had them weight checked they are 500 and 515 so there good advice paid off. i've checked on dexter too for milk and beef. but in florida i'm not having to much good luck. well enough of the chet-chat. :duc welcome!!!!!!!!

Well, thanks for all the replies!! jHM47 A used bobcat loader sounds like fun. My bil has some kind of backhoe w/loader....he won't let anyone use it, but he will "help out" when needed. He's off a few days, so I'm going to ask him if he will move a few bales for me.

"the wife"...coturnix and jumbo quail...I'm not sure of everything, but have a book on them, and would love to try to pickle some eggs. This is my first endeavor with quail so I'll see how it goes.

m.holloway.....what do you mean you had a 1 day cattle camp? Someone came to your place to give you an overview of what to expect, etc? That sound like fun. Did you have the neighbors or similar interested people over besides your family? Other than the dexters that were at the fair, I've found a few people in WI who I would be looking at obtaining the cows from. I think they would easily fit into that two horse bumper pull trailer. Have to work on the fencing first though this coming spring.

the one day cattle camp has to do with 4=h. the kids are in it and trying to get ready for the fair. the superented get's it together, with other people that know about cows. and i just go for the fun and i get alot of hands on tips from everyone. they are trying to get a clinic day camp now. that is the vet comes out and gives the cows a look over, and a health cert. for the fair. at the same time he'll answer any question in a group. so it's cheaper and fun at the same time. 4=h is a great group.
