Newborn Boer goat died. Little tummy appeared to be full of gas

My goat Mouth had triplets yesterday morning.
All appeared to be okay. Although I did notice that sometimes it seemed like they would sprawl out flat on their sides at times. But they all appeared to be eating and what not.
All seemed normal this morning as well. Although again I saw one that was sprawled out sleeping. I checked him and he seemed okay,.
My husband heard one cry so went out to check and one of the boys died in his hands. He told me that he tried to get it to get up but it was not able to stand up. Then it just flopped its head to the side and passed away. My husband saw that the tummy was a bit distended so squeezed it a little and gas came out.
I did not see any tummy issue this morn.
What can be done on kids this young if this happens again? Is this common? We are both very worried now for the two surviving kids.

No clue...but so sorry for your loss!!!

Sprawling out on their sides allows gas to build up in the stomach. If the other little ones are lying sternally then I wouldn't worry too much. I would say this little one bloated due to lying flat out for too long with a full milk belly.

are you vaccinating for enterotoxemia? CD&T vaccine?

I thought that position was kinda odd. If it happens again I will be more vigilent in trying to get them not to that.
I will get the shots Saturday. Vet recommended to give the babies and the mother a shot and then again in four weeks.
Just gonna give everyone on the place a shot.

Good to know! I just had three Nubian babies born that were on their sides with full bellies for most of a day. I will make sure not to let that happen again!!!
