This place is overrun with poison ivy so we let the pigs get a pen bare and then move them to a new pen. Once they are out of the current pen we will sow it for pasture use. They are basically clearing the land of the weeds we want rid of.

Once our veggie garden is done for the year we will be letting them in that area to eat and root up the garden for us.

We have Guinea Hogs also and they root much less than the Mangalitsa, but even they will root.

I guess there really isn't much you can do to stop a pig from rooting lol I know in the future we will get some pigs for meat and I heard that guineas and mangalitsas are pretty mellow for swine

Our hereford and duroc are mellow too! Berks are mouthy/snappy and i dont like them much.

Our Mangs were not handled much when they were young so they are a bit more aggressive. The Guinea Hogs are for the most part like little puppies. They will come beg for scratches and flop for belly rubs.

The other female is a bit mouthy. She was not handled much when she was young. Another reason for us to isolate the mom and babies. We are watching to see how this litter reacts to handling daily.
