Something is wrong with one of our ewes.

About a week ago she had triplets, and has been nursing them fine since them and last year she had and nursed triplets with no problem.

Earlier today I went out and noticed her limping and favoring her back right leg. After failed attempts of trying to get her into the barn so i could lock her up to rest i gave up and decided I would try again in a few hours when everyone else got home, so I could have some assistance.

I went outside now and she is laying down. Not usual, but when i went over to her to see if she would stand to see if she had improved, she would not stand up. This is extremely odd for her, because she is one of the most unfriendly sheep we own. and she let me touch her face and her legs all over. She did squirm and try to get her face away from me, but she made no effort to stand up. I actually tried to nudge her and make her uncomfortable so she would stand and walk away, but she wouldn't.

I'm extremely worried about her and don't know what to do, or what it could be.

I didn't see or feel any swelling on any of her legs, her eyes are clear and they along with her ears, are very alert.

Does anyone have any ideas?

What's her temp?

I had a ewe who was limping very bad a few days after delivering triplets. A couple of days she wouldn't want to move at all. I'm not sure what was wrong with her and how she developed such a terrible limp but she was better after a week or so.

Thanks for replying! We called other sheep farmers and found out what it is and how to treat it! They reffered to it as Multiple birth syndrome and its when their babies suck away more sugar then the mom is producing. We gave her sugar water a couple of times, and now shes back to normal!

Wow, that's pretty serious if it's not caught early. I'm glad you found out in time!
