I have chickens, and you might go into it thinking of them as just livestock, and come out of it thinking of them as pets with benefits. :)

Love my 3 does and 4 babies. OB, not so much right now because he smells so bad. He'll be my bud again when he quits peeing on himself and I can give him a bath. It's going to be hard to sell off the "boys" at the end of the month.
I have to reeducate every one who stops by our farm. They think I use chain link fence and barb wire on top to keep the goats from escaping. It's to slow down the local thieves.
Goats will eat everything....mine certainly do not or I wouldn't have to go out and forage for snacks for them during dry season. Or get the grain mixture just right every day. Sure they'll tug on clothes and love to untie shoes.
You can tell it's the boy because it has a beard, wattles or horns. Take a look around I tell them.
Goat milk stinks and tastes like grass. If I can get them to taste it, they're hooked.
I'm so glad to have goats again but I still hate washing all the stuff for milking and cheesemaking. :sick

Must be a really big problem with thieves there, with stealing your goats, or what? Just think about all the wonderful cheese and milk you have to enjoy while you are washing up the dishes from those projects. That will make you feel better about doing it. I don't have a dishwasher like a lot of people do, as I live in a farmhouse that was built in 1953. It's a great house and really sound. We've only lived there for 2 years and in that time I've been able to get the goats and my chickens. I love taking care of the animals. My husband says I'm happier than he's seen me in a long time. Just love the country and my goats!

Here's a recent picture of Ginger. She should be kidding in the next 2 to 4 weeks. I think she's getting pretty big and today her udders were a little more filled out and firmer. So it might be closer that I think. I hope so, because I'm so excited!

Yes, welcome to the club, all of us have G.A.S.

I too love my goats, and if I am uptight about something or someone I head for the barn.

I immerse myself in goatness and it is great therapy and very healing.

I even love the way they smell. LOL

Funny you should mention the smell, as that is something that my daughter commented on the first time she was up close and personal with them. She liked it, too, and so do I.
