At what age can you start breeding them? I have heard of cattle being bred under 1 year old.

Gilts often exhibit their first estrus between 6 - 8 months old. Of course, a lot depends on breed and nutrition. Some breeds are slower maturing, and a gilt that has not been eating a well balanced diet will postpone her estrus.

9mths is a good average age. That way she has piglets at13mths old. She will still have some growing to do but that is OK.
