elevan,

what do you think about the herbal dewormer?
I agree with both Roll Farms and ksalvagno on herbal dewormers.

If you read my article you know that Parasite Management = Pasture Management. If you don't have pasture it doesn't really matter because what it really means is overall herd management. And as Roll Farms and ksalvagno said, you need to know YOUR herd and YOUR environment and YOUR farm then you'll know YOUR enemy (worm / parasites).

I believe in using certain things to help prevent heavy worm loads. Those things are good loose minerals, Copasure supplements and proper pasture management / plantings. A healthy goat is better prepared to fight a parasite load.

In addition you need to practice good quarantine procedures. You can read more about that here .

The issues with dewormer resistance shouldn't be so hard for some vets to figure out. After all (human) doctors don't prescribe antibiotics willy nilly because they don't want to create antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria. The same principal applies with chemical dewormers. Heck it applies with any drug really. I know a girl who has RA and cannot take certain classes of pain killers because they no longer work for her because she took them for so long.
