Parts of BC, like where I live have been extremely cold at night. Our spring was almost a month late and the growth rate on our pasture is half the norm because the soil never stays warm enough.

Parts of Washington seem to be having the same issues.

Fertilizer and water do little good when the soil stays overly cold.

Not only cold (we've gotten that here too), but because of the lack of rainfall that we are SUPPOSED to be getting but ain't. Especially around central Alberta (Camrose, Red Deer, and south to Innisfail and Airdrie). It's REALLY dry down there. :(

Sorry your having problems growing grass, we on the other hand.... we are in our 5th week of straight rain, with I think only 3 days of sun between. :(
No one can hay, the grass is too tall/ripe and I am afraid this winter hay will be too hard to find. I wish there was a happy medium somewhere........ :idunno

Yep, the cows will eat it and probably love it. I was thinking of horse hay at this point, sorry. I am a horse person, first and foremost. LOL. It will make fine bale-age (not sure how to spell it) and fine stock hay. But we have a lot of farms in NH (at least around me) that cater to horse hay sales.
We feed bale-age to the cows and its a wet feed anyway so I'm sure the rain doesn't matter much for that. But dart it, I need hay for my llamas and horses! :barnie

Maybe second cut, if you can get the first cut off. Or does the weather prohibit second cut?

Here too. First cut should have been off by now but, the weather hasn't cooperated. DH was grumbling about being behind and I pointed out to him that everyone is. We hope to finish first cut this weekend.
