Owning a horse

I am hoping to be a horse owner soon and wonder where to starting gathering as much knowledge as I can about their care, breeds, space requirements for them to be comfortable, just everything I can possibly want or need to know. I am just wanting a companion to ride down the trails with, nothing showy or fast. So just hoping on advice on where to star.

from Sugarloaf Mountain, Clermont, Florida. I would start looking up a lot of breeds and doing my homework. What kind of riding do you want to do? English, Western or what? Trailride, help work cows, horsecamp, ride long distance or what. This will help you decide what breed or type you want. Do you want gaited or troting horses? Lots of questions and lots of breeds to work with.
