We went to the Piedmont Dairy Goat Breeders Association Spring show 2 weeks ago in Shelby, NC.
It was shall we say much more competitive than the show Memorial Day in Rocky Mount, but we still had fun as a family.
What I consider to be the best breeder in NC was not in Rocky Mt, but they were only 20 minutes away from Shelby. Another top breeder that we know from 10 Mile TN was also there. One of the top breeders in the South East from the Atlanta GA area sent animals with his "apprentice" handler. You know you are a serious breeder when you have an apprentice to take animals to a show for you. There is a youth show on Friday night and then they have two rings on Sat and Sun. There were 22 dry yearling ND's in the first show on Sat. And any of the first 10 could have been GC's
But anyway, there was a youth show on Friday and our first freshner Taffy was Reserve Grand Champion Doe in that show. We are very pleased with this little doe. She won her age group 3 times this spring and took a Grand Reserve.
I got some pictures of Rachel showing Coleus in the youth show. She came in 2nd in her age group. She is 2 year old and this is her second freshning
The rest of the weekend we were please overall with how our animals did in their respective classes. There were a lot of ND's at the show.
