Afif had 5 friends he invited for dinner tonight. He’s going to make something special with Bernaise sauce on it. I will eat just about anything if it’s covered in Bernaise!!!
He showed us his pictures from his last trip to the Amazon area of Ecuador, where he stayed with the Waodonni Indians. They are the tribe that was made famous in the true story “End of the Spear”movie. I HIGHLY recommend the movie, which was produced by the son of one of the missionaries these people speared to death, but later became family to the wives and children of those missionaries. It’s an incredible story.
The people remain very primitive, women wearing skirts woven out of palm fronds, and topless, the men with even less, using poisoned darts to spear their food, eating grubs, and living in crude shelters in probably one of the most beautiful and eco-diverse areas on the planet. His stories were so neat to hear. He is a very well traveled, multi talented, entertaining guy. He also travelled to Africa and stayed with the Massei. I was tired and a little muddle headed so I missed what country and how he connected Africa with Ecuador. He has started a business called Tribal Tours where he takes people up the Amazon and meets these people of whom some were previously head hunters and cannibalistic but are friendly, gracious, accepting and generous with him and the guy with him. It’s incredible the way these people still live.
The women paint a red stripe across their eyes to show honor to him and there was a little doodle type village dog and they put a stripe across the dog’s eyes too 😂

My red doe kindled. She’s a first time mama and I bred her to make sure she wasn’t too fat as she’d been just hanging out, but she grew out quickly and is very sweet so I want to use her to replace the nasty New Zealand doe that tried to kill me. She’s still here because she has such big litters and is a good producer, but has just a sucky personality. Brandy (red doe’s) mama seems to have small litters but they mature faster and she has a great disposition. I need to produce some other kind of meat because Boone needs more variety. I sure would like to get a couple sheep again…

Been trying to get a price on indoor jacuzzi tub. When I had my home, we put a jacuzzi in the back yard. (I loved it, it was on a raised platform with a redwood gazebo and grapes growing all over it ❤️) It helped a lot with my pain. I don’t want to go outside when its 10 degrees though, so I have relented and agreed to replace my claw leg tub with a walk-in tub/shower. I just hope we can afford it, and Randy could finally fix the wall in there with the mold! Afif's friend is a doctor. I’m going to ask him about toxic mold while Randy is around.

I recall reading about Jim Elliot, one of the young missionaries who was killed on first contact. His widow, Elisabeth, also was a missionary.

Yes. That’s who it was. The movie is beautifully produced by Steve Saint. His dad was the pilot. I think you can watch it for free on utube

Had a fantastic dinner, and enjoyed the company immensely. Afif’s friend is a back specialist and Fen and Boone adore him. He noticed I had some trouble and after asking some questions and taking a long pulse, told me to see an internist and get a special test and invited me to send him a copy of my records from pain management and he could help me with my back. Wow! What an answer to prayer!

Afif fixes us NY steaks cut from a full loin he brought, served with compound butter and garlic/rosemary mashed potatoes, after climbing the mountains in the cold bird hunting all day. They ran across a herd if Bighorn sheep, and flushed several chukar and quail.

Boone kissing up to Doc. He really, really liked him.

Fen also very attracted to doc and dutifully checking behind his ears 😂
