Today is “The Next Day”. I did have pretty significant pain in my back and hip last night, so I used the roll on, on my hip. I did move to Boone’s chair until 4 am, when he came in and found Fen sleeping on the long couch and me in his chair so he started baying his Aaawwoooo’s in complaint and nose butting me in between. I got the distinct impression he wanted me to move.
I did. He was happy with that decision and I was apparently forgiven for trespassing.
I was awake at 6 am. It drizzled all night. (It doesn’t rain here often in the high desert. 10” us our annual average rainfall) ThT in itself is usually enough to trigger a flare.
I got up and kenneled Boone because he crowded out Fen when Fen tried to greet and interact with his hooman. He obediently went in so after locking him up he got a big cookie.
I feel pretty good! I mean it, I feel like a normal person. It’s incredible. Thanks for recommending the DMSO!
We shall see how the day goes but I am ready to go forth and battle rabids!

IDK what it is about driving to town and back that tears me up but we only went to Burns, 2 hr away and today I’m in a world of hurt.
But I don’t think it’s quite as severe as it usually is. I think I will be able to function at some point today, so that’s something. That’s probably only because I used a DMSO roll on, over my joints before TheMan brought me coffee. I got Mister’s beet pulp ready and the dog’s breakfasts ready. Except doing that feels like it waa a bad idea. Hoping I can sleep it off. I hate being awake for this..
However, I gotta say Boone was a star yesterday. His looseleash walking was stellar, and we passed right by a dog at the vet. The first time he was totally silent, the second time he let it one bark, but I had no problem walking on with him. At the feed store, we were in the checkout and he was looking behind him when a Malinois came in. He didn’t see it, but he didn’t see it when it went around behind us a perfect distance away. He whined a little bit but again had no problem going forward. I’m really surprised at him after his confrontation at the bank. He was a very good boy.

He is still a puppy. Big dog, but still a puppy. He is shouldering immense responsibility and doing better than expected. You are drawing out his natural instincts and talents and amazingly, you are dampening down his aggressive behavior.

Buford was a goofy puppy. He was confused by newborns and barked at them. This lambing, no barking. This lambing, he’s confident and in charge. He’s in with ewes giving birth and I couldn’t ask for a finer guardian. Suddenly, all the training and all the corrections and all the worlds of patience, came together in one incredible package.

Boone will do the same. Keep doing what you are doing.
