Two days in bed, not so much from pain but overwhelming depression. Stress seems to trigger uncontrollable itching that nothing but Benadryl relieves. It knocks me out for hours at a time which seems to be a huge upgrade in my life from the soul crushing emptiness and isolation.
Is there such a thing as a Benadryl addiction?

On a lighter note, Boone is trying to smuggle Fen’s bowl and elk antler outside through the back door. I have no idea.

The “aroma” from the chicks living in the upstairs duplex of Boone’s crate is more powerful by the day. I decided it’s time to evict them and locate a more suitable residence outside somewhere. I started rolling the big round water trough I used in the past to the deck, wondering what I could use for a lid. I went to the pen we used to have ducks in thinking I could use one of the panels over the top, then realized it was located near the shed that has electricity. So I got the big chicken feeder and the 5 gal waterer, put shavings in a sideways small horse trough and covered half the front for shelter. With the light hanging it will be plenty warm enough, and they won’t outgrow it until it’s time to get them integrated with the older hens. They have 4’ x 16’ of room to scratch and wander in, an
absolute chicken palace.

Meanwhile, Boone has doubled down on his shenanigans.
He’s bringing me gifts again.
Fen’s bowl. A shoe. The drip system from outside. What’s left of a soaker hose and a rubber hose he destroyed. He’s run out of things to sell me in the house, the laundry is too low for him to reach, so now I get everything he can pick up outside…including a full gallon jug of water….

Lucky chicks!! That's a huge area for them - and looking at their size I bet the household aroma was quite chicky!
Ohhhh God - LOVE Boone - he is such a smarty and a comedian. You think he's doing this for rewards - ha - nope he's doing it to make you smile and laugh, and for us to smile and laugh. He is the Gift.

Fen has been getting sneaky lately. He gets Boone to go outside with him, gets him interested in something, then sneaks back inside for a private cookie party with me…

I got a text today from Randy’s daughter. My youngest step daughter that we had such a great time with last summer. She is starting a family business, selling chicks, eggs and homemade goods. She wanted me to send soap I made and salves/balms to sell. I told her that at 70, I don’t plan to make a lot but Boone and I could come down and teach them how. I have LOTS of stuff I will never use (soap molds, fragrances, EOs, Oils, etc)
So looks like I am gonna go teach them to soap, render tallow, and make lotions, etc.
Maybe I can foist the rabbits off on them too
They said I can sleep in their trailer. It won’t be comfy but I can manage for a week, I think. I’m very excited. I’ve desperately wanted off of the ranch

Sounds close to perfect!! A road trip, some teaching time, some declutter of supplies...off the farm & friendly family visit. If they only lived closer, you could do a trip every couple months!
