Hello, I'm new here but I've had some horses that were less than I'd like and I can't afford one now, but what did help me before was to have not only some lessons on someone elses horses and letting them help you check out a horse that you want to buy. And have yourself someone who will ride with you to give you moral support. Humans learn by example all their lives, having someone around who is comfortable around horses and can "back" you up if you get nervous is a huge help. You don't even have to touch the horses to watch someone in action. Go to horse shows or events and just watch. It shows you things you might not imagine and shows you how you could react. Just my opinion.
