Pets: Whether to get 2 wethers or wether and doeling?

I have all girls except one wether. Not because I like them better, but I just haven't moved my buck to my place. I am currently searching for that just right second buck to bring to the herd as well. I personally don't have a preference to either sex. I just love them all. I don't find maintaining my expecting mothers to be any harder or easier than the others. The expecting mothers all stay within the herd until they get close to their due date or show signs of "pre-labor", then I separate them.

So in my opinion: doe & wether or two does. The wether will come in handy later on when you end up getting your own buck and he has to be penned away from the girls with his own buddyD). Welcome to the site and good luck in your endeavor. X2 on pictures.

Thanks for all the input, I think I'll go with the boy and the girl, "just in case". I could see how I could succumb to the "more goats" syndrome, but I will say it here and now NO BILLY GOATS!! I hate the smell, always have. Honestly I think most males of most breeds are better neutered, take that how you wish

welcome to the group and don't listen to all those "your gonna get more goat" people. i started with just one goat and now i only have ahaaaa 14... ok so i have had more than 30 but 14 is a good number right. you're gonna need another goat. and make it a doe

Doekay, doe it is!! Let's see how susceptible I am to "More Goat Syndrome". Right now the hardest part is waiting the 2 weeks for my "critters" to be 8 weeks old!

I wondered about something when you said you probably wouldn't breed, but would like to have the option. I don't know enough about goats to know the answer, so maybe someone experienced like @OneFineAcre or @Southern by choice could chime in.

If you are going to breed a goat, is there a certain age you should breed it by? In other words, if you get a doe so that you can eventually breed it if you want to, and then 4 or 5 years go by and you haven't bred it yet, is that doe getting too old to be a first-time mother?
