Hi all. Im getting ready to treat for mites. Can place a pollen pattie to feed at same time, diff locations in hive?

How are their stores? I'd give sugar water instead of a patty. They shouldn't need much pollen at this time of year, because they are winding down on population for winter. I usually feed a patty in late winter to start brood production up for the first blooms.
What are you using to treat for mites?

Both hives seem to be very strong and doing well. I used mite away strips.
Will get some sugar water ready, end day of treatment is sunday.

When do you treat for mites? The two treatments I wanted to use are temperature sensitive and it is too hot here and will be for another month.The Mite Away Quick Strips says below 95 and Apiguard is below 105. Next week it is supposed to be 109...again. Maybe it isn't as hot where you live.

Normally in late fall. It has been very hot here too, tomorrow 98 again. 
I used miteaway strips last year and it worked great.

Well I guess I will just feed them and pray and hold off on the treatment until Sept/Oct. Unless of course I want to try the oxalic acid and glycerin, I don't remember that one being temp. sensitive but it would take a little more time to prepare.
I haven't done a mite count, I probably shouldn't own bees while trying to build a dairy. I was just going to treat and assume that they had mites and then maybe check them when the weather gets cooler. I tend to be claustrophobic and wearing that bee suit when it is hot is just more than I can tolerate so it is super early morning or nothing. And then the visits are just long enough to do what I need to do and get the heck out of that suit.

Lol! Thats pretty much how I have been working it.
We r at 99 this weekend again. Gona time a morning quick check. Last year I didn't do a mite count....just treated. Was a good thing I did!

114° this weekend so the bees need to hang on for another week. I am milking at 7:30 in the mornings so it is hard to do bees and milk too.

So sorry! I haven't been on in a while and I missed this. Last year, I treated in mid September with Apiguard. This year I treated Hive #1 starting today. I don't do it when it's still hot because you have to add the drop tray back in to the screened bottom board. Hive #2 still has a super on, and the bees are moving the honey down into the hive. I tried to take the super off today, but I'm getting over a cold and there are soooo many bees in the hive that I was fighting a losing battle. So I gave up. I'll give them another week and try again. I've never had this many bees in the hives in the fall before. It is CRAZY full. And they were not happy with me messing with them either.

Every frame was like this. I already got a harvest off of this hive, so I didn't plan on taking the 2nd.
