I have 2 mini La Mancha's and currently their home is an XL Dogloo. It fits them ok for now since we live in the high desert of Reno NV so we don;t often get extended wet periods. If the weather is going to be bad for an extended time I have a pen for them in my horses barn. I would like to build them something bigger but don't have a lot of $$ to spend so I wnat inexpensive but functional. I am planning on breeding Annie this fall so I will need something that is big enough for 2-6 goats total. Please post pics of your goats homes and what you like/dislike about them. What would you change and what can you absolutley not live with out.

Jen

P.S. Here are pics of my 2. :) The black on is Annie Oakley and the white one is Jessie James. They are brother and sister.

Cute goats. :welcome

My goats are in my barn but many people use a shed. If Annie gives birth, you will need a space for her to be alone with her kids. If Jessie is intact, then you will want to remove him from Annie's area when she kids.

I have 2 spoiled Nigerian does. I don't have good pics yet but we have a 10x20 shed with no flooring, just the dirt (we have very sandy soil that drains fast) covered with bedding. The inside is divided roughly in half, the slightly smaller side has all the feed, hay, milk stand, etc. So they have a lot of room. If I had a buck I'd definitely want separate shed for him and a buddy.

Edit: Oh I should add that we didn't get around to making a separate kidding pen so that's going to be a small challenge come March, but we'll figure something out...

What type of shed is it one of those build on site ones that is what we have it does have a wood floor we will just have to replace as needed because the ground here gets saturated and I want them to be able to be up off the ground.

But to get to you kidding pen issue how is you shed divided? We have a shed that sounds similiar that we divided off also. we had a 2x8 vertically and them put 2X6 and 2x4 off of it to the walls. We have the double door directly opposite this and while they were building it I asked them to leave the 2x4 that goes along the bottom of the door we will be dividing the double door with a vertical 2x4 sideways using the fence brackets I think they were called at Lowes, they are U shaped with a flat botton with flaps on the 2 long sides a 2x4 fits perfect into them there are screw holes in the flaps and along all sides of the actual U I think the cost about 2 dollars. We will be using about 18 of these possibly in case we have to cross divide also due to kids coming closer together then ecxpected but this will be removeable and can use again next year. was also able to get some nice 2x4x10s and 12s at a lumber yard on sale 1.00 each isnt bad!! Then running 2x6 from the 2X4 to the 2x8 in the middle of the original divider this way they mom can still see the other goats but be physically away from them. Wish my scanner was back from the shop as I have a scketch of what I mean.

I could not find them online will try to post pics when I get my printer home. Really stinks when your all in one goes down and has to be returned to company case no printer no fax no scanner no copier no card reader I am going insane!!!

Well I think I get what you mean, but a pic would be helpful. The smaller feed storage side is roughly 8x10' and the other 12x10'. Where I had originally planned to put the kidding pen is now where the hay feeder is, which I'm glad because it's also sort of close to the big sliding barn door and the wind would blow right on the babies there. So I'm thinking the opposite corner would be best. I have a very very large dog box that I could use temporarily. I have a feeling we'll be playing with them so much that they'll mostly just be spending the night in there. I think that'll be fine if I am able to sell them relatively soon, but keeping them there for several weeks might be asking a bit much...
